Ultrapulse CO2: |
|
The Ultrapulse CO2, manufactured by Coherent Medical Laser Corporation of Santa Clara, California, emits a colorless infrared light that is absorbed by water in the skin to vaporized tissue. Since 1993, it has been used to resurface facial skin in order to treat wrinkles, sun damage and acne scars. The ultra-short pulse duration allows the surgeon to safely and accurately sculpt away layers of skin with predictable heating of a small amount of tissue. This heating of tissue causes shrinkage of collagen and thus tightening of skin to give a more youthful appearance or to improve acne scars.

Erbium: |
|
The erbium laser emits a colorless infrared light that is absorbed by tissue water and is used to sculpt away very thin layers of skin with minimal delivery of heat to the tissue. It may be used alone for superficial resurfacing or to resurface the delicate skin of the neck and chest. Dr. Rostan uses a “laser layering” technique for resurfacing where the erbium laser is used following passes with the Ultrapulse CO2 laser to produce a smoother and improved result with a significant decrease in post-operative redness. The erbium laser is also used to carefully sculpt away the edges of acne scars and deep wrinkles for enhanced results.

Fraxel: |
|
Fraxel is a new, unique technology that creates a smoother skin texture and more even skin tone without the downtime that is required with surgery. Fraxel utilizes a novel method of skin rejuvenation called fractional photothermolysis (FP) that rejuvenates skin by crating microthermal injury zones (MTZ) in a computer controlled, geometric pattern leaving normal skin surrounding each wound to renew and repair the laser impacted skin. By treating small areas of the skin at each treatment session, patients may return to normal activities with minimal side effects and still achieve the results attained with an ablative procedure. Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery Center of Charlotte is the first provider of Fraxel in the Carolinas.

Vbeam/long pulsed dye laser: |
|
The pulsed dye laser or PDL has a long history of safety and efficacy in the treatment of cutaneous vascular lesion and other conditions. It has been used since the early 1980’s and there are over 300 published scientific articles documenting its safety and efficacy. Today the Vbeam is the latest advance in PDL technology. This unique laser offers longer pulse durations than previous pulsed dye lasers that allow effective treatment with minimal or no bruising and down-time. Also, it is combined with the most advanced and effective skin cooling device, the Dynamic Cooling DeviceTM, that allows predictable and controlled cooling of the upper layer of skin. Thus darker skin types may be treated, treatments are less painfull, and higher laser energies (fluences) may be safely used. Vbeam is used to treat a variety of conditions: rosacea, facial, neck and chest redness, broken blood vessels, sun damage, leg veins, keloids and hypertrophic scars, vascular birthmarks in children such as port-wine stains (capillary malformations) and hemangiomas (rapidly growing red lesions), warts, and stretch marks.

GentleLASE Plus/Alexandrite |
The Candela GentleLASE Plus is the industry's premier hair removal laser system, offering advanced treatment and outstanding clinical effectiveness at the most affordable price.
This unparalleled alexandrite laser offers precise, non-invasive treatment of unwanted body hair, through high-energy, long-pulse operation and integrated dynamic cooling for minimizing both patient pain and collateral epidermal changes.
Faster and more cost-effective than any other laser, GentleLASE Plus delivers the industry's highest energy density with one of the largest laser spots, dramatically facilitating treatment of large areas. With a wavelength of 755nm and a spot size as large as 18mm, the GentleLASE can penetrate deeper than that of the ruby lasers and treat a larger area more quickly.
The only hair removal laser with dynamic cooling, GentleLASE Plus offers outstanding results for doctors and their patients. Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD)TM delivers a short, targeted burst of non-toxic cryogen onto the top layers of the patient's skin milliseconds before the laser pulse.

Photoderm: |
|
The Photoderm is an Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) system. These devices emit non-laser flashlamp generated light that contains wavelengths from 550 nm to 1100 nm. Filters are used to cutoff light below a certain wavelength allowing physicians to tailor treatment to the patients skin type and condition being treated. The Photoderm system may be used to treat rosacea, broken blood vessels, facial redness, neck discoloration (poikiloderma), port-wine stains, hemangiomas, venous lakes, venous malformations, and leg veins. Photoderm may also be used for hair removal. Its current most popular use is in the treatment of sun damage – or Fotofacial. Whole face treatments are given in a series of 3 – 5 treatments to improve signs of aging and sun damage - facial redness, blood vessels, brown spots, fine wrinkles – resulting in enhance skin tone and texture.
